Poole Museum has started work on its new project ‘Our Museum: Rediscovering Poole’s Maritime Heritage’, and preserving its long and rich past by investing in conservation and restoration work on the historically significant buildings on the site – the Salix, Oakley’s Mill, and the Grade 1 Listed Wool Hall.
Funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England, the first stage of the project will refurbish the buildings and facilitate the sympathetic installation of 360 solar roof slates for sustainable power, 60 new windows with secondary glazing, a new dormer to accommodate a larger lift and new rooflights.
The second stage will include the development of three new spectacular maritime galleries enabling the Museum to showcase more of its collections alongside an increased number of interactive displays.
PT Projects have been appointed as Project Managers, Cost Consultants and Contract Administrators for the Base build and the Exhibition works.
